Graphic Designer

 

Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) the nation’s leading publisher of State Boards of Nursing and Academies of Family Physician journals, is currently searching for an enthusiastic Graphic Designer with 3 to 5 years of proven design experience. Opportunities like this rarely come about. The successful candidate will be involved in the creation and design of an existing portfolio of established nationally recognized journals and new ones as they are added.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the creative director to determine the magazine’s direction
  • Develop ads as needed for companies wishing to reach the magazine’s audience
  • Graphically incorporate  the advertising into the magazine design
  • Create images that identify a product or convey a desired  message
  • Develop graphics for products, logos, and websites
  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout if none has been previously determined
  • Design magazines that creatively incorporate the sponsor’s editorial and the advertising content
  • Incorporate changes recommended by the sponsor and clients into the final design
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them

Graphic designers combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of printed pages and websites.

Important Qualities:

  • Analytical skills. You must be able to look at work from the point of view of consumers and examine how the designs you develop will be perceived by the consumer to ensure they convey the client’s desired message.
  • Artistic ability.  Our ideal candidate must be able to create designs that are artistically interesting and appealing to clients and consumers.
  • Communication skills. Graphic designers must occasionally communicate with clients, customers, and other designers to ensure that their designs accurately reflect the desired message and effectively express information.
  • Computer skills. We use Creative Suite 6 software to prepare our magazines and designs.
  • Creativity.  Our graphic designers must be able to devise new approaches to communicating ideas to consumers.
  • Time-management skills. Graphic designers often work on multiple projects at the same time, each with a different deadline.
  • Prioritize daily contacts and tasks to meet deadlines
  • Be a problem solver geared toward innovative solutions
  • Possess exceptional communication skills – both oral and written    
  • Self-motivated with a bias for action, be flexible and adaptable
  • Must possess organizational skills and a commitment to develop projects in a timely manner

Senior Level Account Executive

 

  Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) the nations leading publisher of State Boards of Nursing and Academies of Family Physician journals, is currently searching for an enthusiastic senior sales account executive with 3 to 5 years of proven sales experience. Advertising sales preferred.  Opportunities like this rarely come about. The successful candidate will manage an existing portfolio of established nationally recognized journals to maximize advertising sales with the added opportunity to cross sell into other PCI journals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain & grow advertising sales within your portfolio of journals
  • Maintain and build existing advertiser contact data base (CRM)
  • Meet and exceed sales goals
  • Ensure advertising sales are completed and ad copy is received on time for the publishing schedule
  • Lead client sales presentations, including presentation of new creative work
  • Stay abreast of competitive activities and trends
  • Manage advertiser expectations
  • Provide daily sales reports to management
  • Oversee multiple journals and advertiser accounts each day


Requirements:

  • Mastery of sales presentation and closing practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Business Suite including and most importantly CRM hygiene 
  • Immediate ability to grow and develop advertising accounts
  • Prioritize daily contacts and tasks to meet deadlines
  • Be a problem solver geared toward innovative solutions
  • Possess exceptional communication skills – both oral and written
  • Build and Maintain strong relationships with advertisers
  • Self-motivated with a bias for action
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Must possess the organizational skills and a commitment to invest the time needed to manage your portfolio
